What Does the Future of Event Management Look Like?

If there’s one thing we’re missing this year, it’s events. From festivals, to weddings, to corporate events and parties, those events were among the highlights of our year. Now, however, we have to wonder, will we ever be able to go back to the way event life used to be? The answer is, as most things are this year, uncertain.

But here’s what we know for certain. The event industry isn’t disappearing, it’s just changing. One big change for the event industry has been the move to online, or virtual events. In the future, it has been projected that as things slowly start to open again, that there will be a combination of both virtual and in-person events, called “hybrid” events. Some common hybrid events include: conferences, trade shows, and town halls. Think of them as a happy median. It allows those who don't want to go in person to go online, and vice versa.

Another future projection for the event industry is in-person events with a high priority on safety. Temperature checks, hand sanitizing stations, a wipe-down every few hours, pre-covid checks, and of course, wearing masks to events will be a must in order to have an in-person event safely. Social distancing will also play a large role in this. So by the looks of it, hybrid events and social distancing seem to be the near future of the event industry. However, as much as a bummer it might seem to those who love the event industry, this doesn’t mean that you can’t still do what you love, it just means you have to be more CREATIVE! For hybrid events, bring those online to those there in person by live streaming the whole event!  For a priority in safety, boast about those highly sanitized SWAG bags! And finally, for the social distancing aspect, bring the party to that personal (6-feet apart) circle. So to our special event coordinators, wedding planners, and event designers, our best advice is to not look at the current situation of the event industry, but to the future of a more creative one.
